The miraculous icon of St Anne that saved the villagers from the pirates and gave its name to the Agia Anna village; the Osios Christodoulos cave, Galataki monastery and Zoodohos Pigi church near Limni village; the St John the Russian church, in Prokopi village which a number of faithful attend the miraculous church where the Relics of the Saint are praised; the Osios David monastery, near Rovies; and numerous chapels in the woods and by the beaches: north Evia is full of religious sites with great history, sometimes exciting, others moving, attracting thousands of pilgrims every year that pray for their own miracles, fulfil the promises they made to their patron saints and holy places, or return to commemorate their wedding or children’s christenings.
